OVERNIGHT, SIMMERING TENSIONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST APPEAR TO HAVE TIPPED INTO AN UNPRECEDENTED ESCALATION, SPARKING FEARS THAT THE SITUATION MAY DETERIORATE IN THE COMING HOURS AND DAYS.

Since 2007, Gaza has been under a land, sea and air blockade imposed by Israel. Gaza has been described as an “open-air prison”. Conditions in Gaza were dire even before the recent escalations in conflict, with occupation, blockade and recurring conflict causing deep poverty and suffering.

Around half of the people living in Palestine are in need of vital aid and water. Despite electricity shortages across Gaza, we’re working to support the people in need across the region.

The situation in Gaza

Our focus is now on priority health needs; such as the provision of medical supplies and equipment including medicines, disposable items, medical kits and food for patients and medical staff.

Even though the conflict is ongoing, our team of volunteers are on the ground ready to help Gaza. We are providing lifesaving care in areas where the health system is struggling to cope. Gaza’s health system is under a lot of pressure because of staff shortages and lack of medical supplies.

“Every minute there's a new massacre,” i was working as a medic volunteer and a cameraman, my organization received a call about a bombing in the city of Deir al-Balah. The bombing ended up “in a new massacre. I hope someone like an official person from anywhere in the world will start to take action to stop this madness. What is happening to Gazans is it's a disaster. It's a real disaster. It’s like the last day of the Earth.”

i was stranded at the Rafah crossing to Egypt with my family all day and had to pull back to central Gaza because the crossing is closed, it's a very scary scene here
